Acupuncture, cupping & personalized treatment options

Your visit starts with what you need, not a checklist of treatments. Lia combines or leaves out techniques according to your symptoms, assessment, medical history and preferences.

Acupuncture tailored to you

Acupuncture uses fine needles at selected points. Lia chooses an approach based on your symptoms, health history and assessment, then adjusts care according to your response and preferences.

Before treatment, you can discuss what the session involves, how it may feel and how progress will be assessed.

Electroacupuncture

Electroacupuncture applies controlled electrical stimulation through selected acupuncture needles. It is considered individually rather than used at every visit.

Tell Lia about a pacemaker or other implanted electronic device, pregnancy, altered sensation and any previous difficulty with electrical stimulation before treatment.

Cupping and gua sha

Cupping uses suction at the skin; gua sha uses a tool to apply strokes over the skin. They may be considered as part of care for selected concerns.

Both can leave visible marks, and the skin response should be discussed beforehand. Tell Lia about blood thinners, easy bruising, fragile skin or a skin condition.

These techniques are not offered as a way to extract toxins.

Manual therapy

For some neck, shoulder and low-back concerns, Lia may include brief hands-on treatment and teach stretches suited to your assessment. Pressure, movement and the treated area are adjusted to your comfort.

Tell Lia about any painful movement or area you prefer not to have treated.

Direct moxibustion

Direct moxa places small amounts of moxa on the skin. Scarring and non-scarring methods have different intended skin effects, and both carry burn risks.

Lia discusses suitability and informed consent before use. Moxa is optional; it is not a required part of an acupuncture visit.

Herbal medicine

Herbal care can be the main focus or an optional part of treatment. Capsules, granules, custom decoctions and a lower-cost daily herbal line are available.

Product selection is personalized, and medicines, potential interactions, preferences and cost are reviewed before choosing an option.

What your first visit looks like

A first visit allows 60 minutes for consultation, assessment and appropriate treatment. Bring your medication and supplement list, relevant reports and your main questions.

Lia discusses the proposed approach with you before treatment. Future visits can use a different combination as your needs and response change.

Your preferences help shape every visit

Tell Lia if you prefer fewer techniques, want to avoid marks on the skin or have concerns about heat, electrical stimulation, needles or taking herbs. You can ask for an explanation before each proposed treatment.

The plan can evolve between visits as symptoms and comfort change; reassessment follows your treatment progress.

Common questions

Will I receive all of these treatments?

No. The selection depends on your assessment, preferences and suitability. More techniques do not automatically mean a better visit.

Can I decline herbs, moxa or electrical stimulation?

Yes. Explain your preferences and ask about alternatives. Your consent and comfort are part of planning care.

Can my treatment plan change between visits?

Yes. Your symptoms, comfort, preferences and response help guide each visit. Lia can adjust the approach and discuss any proposed changes with you.

When will I need a follow-up or reassessment?

Timing depends on your treatment progress. Lia reviews your response and current needs to decide when to reassess, adjust the plan or arrange another visit.
